    Hana Makgeolli Omija (Brooklyn, NY)

    Hana Makgeolli Omija (Brooklyn, NY)

Makgeolli is a rice alcohol that has been dilluted with water or tea until it is under 10% ABV.

Grown all across Asia. Omija goes by many names. Some know it as Schisandra Chinensis or Schisandra for short, others know it by the fruit’s name magnolia berry. Translated directly from Korean, omija means five-flavor fruit. When mixed with the makgeolli, the resulting beverage has a salty, peppery, sweet and tangy profile.
