This fascinating, smoky red wine comes from 120-year-old, un-grafted vines. The Phylloxera epidemic never reached the Canary Islands, so these vines never needed replanting. The wine they give is intensely smoky, which makes sense considering that the islands are all volcanic rock. This dark, earthy, burnt note is a signature characteristic of the Canary Islands. We like to say, "Taste the volcano."
