    2021 Fattoria Villa Ligi Vernaculum (Marche, IT) 3R

    There grape in this wine is Aliatico, a red indigenous grape of Italy. Light in color and body like Pinot Noir or Gamay but with much more raspberry and red currant. The winemakers father saved the grape variety from extinction in the 80's. Now the family estate produces red wines solely made from this hard to grow variety.

    About The Varietal

    Aleatico

    Aleatico is a rare red grape variety cultivated in limited amounts in central Italy. While it is used to produce dry red and rosé wines, it truly excels as a dessert wine made in the passito style, where the grapes are air-dried before vinification.
