2021 Elvio Cogno Langhe Nascetta (Piedmont, IT) 5W

This medium-bodied wine has a smooth, waxy texture and offers aromas of broth, tropical fruits, herbs, and saline notes. It features flavors of fresh fruits, grapefruit, cedar, ginger, white flowers, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle mineral undertones. The finish includes light bitter almond notes, along with hints of lime blossom and citrus. It pairs well with baked fish and white meat.

    About The Varietal

    Nascetta

Nascetta is described as "an exquisite grape, tending toward art," as noted by Lorenzo Fantini in his 1879 book "Wine Production and Oenology in the Province of Cuneo." Wines made from Nascetta exhibit an expressiveness that is undeniably captivating. In a region where Nebbiolo reigns as the unrivaled king of red wines, Nascetta, if it were better recognized, could potentially emerge as a strong contender for the region's finest white grape variety.

    About The Producer

    Elvio Cogno

The Cogno family has been making wine in Piedmont for four generations. In 1990, Elvio restored the manor, converted the granaries to wine cellars, and founded his winery. He dedicated 20 years to winemaking traditions from his father and grandfather. Elvio has now passed the winery to his daughter, Nadia, and her husband, Valter Fissore, who worked with Elvio for 25 years. The Elvio Cogno winery continues to produce elegant wines, preserving the traditions and flavors of the Langhe. Their wines are highly regarded in both Europe and the United States.
