About The Varietal
Priorat Red wines are required to contain a makeup of at least 60% Grenache and Samso (the local name for Carignan). Other grape varietals that can be present in Priorat reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah. These wines are typically loved for their high quality and aromas of licorice, tar, and brandied cherries.
