2019 Mary Taylor MT2 Pedro Gonzalez Mittelbrunn (Castilla y Leon, SP) 3R

Pedro Gonzalez Mittelbrunn's Castilla y Leon red is made exclusively from the Prieto Picudo grape, an ancient regional variety slowly revived thanks to Pedro's efforts.

It presents a richly complex aroma of dark berries, smoked meats, black tea, a delightful mix of sweet botanicals, deep earthy notes, and a pronounced smokiness. The palate is deep, full-bodied, with focused complexity, showcasing a solid fruit presence, subtle earthy undertones, firm tannins, and a beautifully balanced, promisingly long finish.

    About The Varietal

    Prieto Picudo

Prieto Picudo is a unique dark-skinned red wine grape variety primarily cultivated in and around its native region of León in northern Spain. This grape is employed to craft a diverse range of wines, including light rosés and deeply pigmented reds. It is featured both as a single-variety wine and as part of blends, often with Tempranillo or Mencia.
